GM Diet Plan Outline for Success

Losing weight quickly is a dream for a lot of people. Whether you are a man or woman, losing weight is more science-based than anything else. Calories come in, calories are expended and calories that are not used by the body ultimately get stored as fat. The issue is knowing exactly what works in terms of food and exercise to ensure that weight is lost in a healthy manner. This is what the GM diet provides.

How Does the GM Diet Work?

GM Diet

The General Motors diet may sound like a way to ensure that your automobile is always in optimal running condition, but this could not be further from the truth. The General Motors Corporation created a diet for their workers that wanted to lose weight. However, the NY Times had an interesting interview that clashes with the idea that the company had in fact created the diet. While the true source is contested, one thing is for certain – this diet works.

How the Diet Works

The diet is broken down into just 7 days. Oftentimes, people will adhere to the rules of the diet for one week every month or two to keep their body in optimal shape. This is definitely an ambitious goal due to the diet being quite restrictive at first. However, all of the GM diet reviews are very positive with people losing 10 – 15 pounds in just one week.

Day 1

The first day is dedicated entirely to fruits. On this day, you can eat virtually any type of fruit you want except bananas. The banana restriction is due to the high level of natural sugars found within the fruit.

The ideal fruits to eat during this time are:

  • Watermelons
  • Apples
  • Melons

You will want to change your fruit choices for each meal whenever possible. You must also drink only water and no fruit juices on day 1.

Day 2

All vegetables. You will be allowed to eat any vegetable of your choosing on the second day. The goal is to overload the body with healthy, nutritious vegetables. The good news is that there is no limit to the amount of vegetables that you can eat on day two.

It is highly recommended that you eat potatoes as a source of complex carbs to start your day. This will allow you to maintain high energy levels without crashing during the day.

Day 3

Finally, a little bit of a mix. Day three combines day 1 and 2 into the same day, but you are not allowed potatoes or bananas on day 3. This makes it a little hard to keep up your energy, but there is a path that people find to be the best during day 3.

  • Eat fruits in the morning.
  • Eat vegetables for dinner.

The natural sugars in fruit will give you an extra boost of energy. If going to work, ensure that you cut up fruits to snack on throughout the day to keep energy levels high.

Day 4

An interesting day. Since you were not allowed to eat bananas or anything that contained potassium, you will be refueling on this essential mineral on day 4. On this day, you will:

  • Eat lots of bananas.
  • Drink milk and water.
  • Eat a special soup.

Bananas provide a good energy boost and will be eaten often. You will find the soup recipe within the GM diet PDF.

The soup will contain:

  • 28 ounces of water
  • 6 large onions
  • 2 green peppers
  • 1 cabbage
  • 1 bunch of celery
  • Whole tomatoes

You can add in any seasoning you like and eat as much soup as you want. Onion soup mix is also recommended.

Day 5

A glorious day. During day 5, you will finally be able to eat more. This day allows for:

  • Beef
  • Vegetables

You will need to eat 2, 10 ounce portions of meat during this day. You can make veggie burger buns to make yourself a veggie burger. At least one quart of water should be drank on day 5. No other liquids, such as milk, can be drank.

Day 6

On day 6, you can eat beef and lean meats, vegetables (large quantities) and GM soup. The only liquid you can consume at this time is water. You can eat as much as you like on day 6.

Day 7

The final day. You are allowed to eat the following on day 7:

  • Brown rice
  • Fruit juices
  • Vegetables

You can eat fruits on this day, but no other liquids (minus fruit juice) can be consumed.
